By air:
The airport in Stavanger is 'Stavanger airport, Sola'. There are direct flights to
Stavanger from London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Aberdeen, Newcastle, and
Alicante. Indirect flights (via Oslo, Norway's capital) is also an option, opening up for
even more possibilities!
By train:
There is a train station in the center of Stavanger. All rail services to and from
Stavanger are run by Norwegian State Railways (NSB). Inter-Scandinavian trains
serve Stavanger several times per day from Kristiansand and Oslo. Seats on express
trains must be reserved.
By boat plus train, bus, or car:
It is possible to take a ferry from Denmark to Norway and then continue by either
train, bus or car to Stavanger. One option is the ferry service from Hirtshals
(Denmark) to Kristiansand (Norway - southern Norway) and then about 3,5 - 4 hours
car drive on E39 north to Sola. Another option is to take a ferry from Hanstholm
(Denmark) to Egersund (Norway) and take about a 1.5 hour's drive by car to Sola
(just outside Stavanger) or by train to Stavanger.
From the airport:
One way is by taxi. You will find taxis right outside the airport terminal. Ask the driver
to take you to Sola Strand Hotel (Sola Beach Hotel), only a five minute drive from the
airport.
The Airport Bus also drives past several of the major hotels, including the Sola Beach
Hotel. Be sure to ask the driver whether s/he stops there, however! There are several
buses that go in different directions, but they will all be located just outside the
terminal building.
From the center of town:
It will take about 20 minutes to drive to Sola Strand Hotel by taxi / car from the center
of Stavanger.
By bus:
Bus. Number 5B goes from bus stops nos. 26 and 19 (downtown Stavanger). Take
the bus to 'Sola Krossen'. Change to bus number 41 which will take you to the hotel.
Or: take the airport bus from the town center to the airport and walk to the hotel from
there (a nice walk if you have no luggage!) - or take a taxi from the airport.
